NOTE:  We do not have a schedule of classes for individuals to join.  All our classes are arranged by the client for their private group.  Event minimums are $600 for adults and $400 for children.  Please see the Details page for more information.  If you do not have your own group, contact local cooking schools for their programs.

If you would like to arrange a cooking class or personal chef, please send Janice an email with the following information:

1)  Your preferred date, time and teacher

2)  Alternate dates with your preferred teacher or alternate teachers for your preferred date

3)  The location of the kitchen or if you need to rent a kitchen (we have access to a commercial kitchen near the Texas Medical Center you can rent for $250 plus $50 cleanup and other more expensive kitchens in central locations)

4)  Estimated number of attendees

5)  Menu choices (select from each teacher's sample menus or other dishes from their cuisine)

The minimum price for an adult class or personal chef is $600; kids' classes start at $400. 

  • An adult class is $600 for up to 10 students; additional students are $60 each.  Classes are 3 hours.
  • A kids' class is $400 for up to 10 students; additional students are $40 each.  Classes are 2 hours.
  • A personal chef will cook for up to 8 people for $600; additional diners are $75 each.
  • Expensive ingredients such as seafood or gingerbread houses will require a surcharge.

A non-refundable 50% deposit is due upon confirmation of availability.  The balance is due at the end of the class or dinner.  Credit cards are not accepted. 

Changes to the date must be made 7 days in advance.  The final headcount must be given at least 48 hours in advance. 

Classes with Terry Conlan require a $150 travel charge.

What is provided by HoustonCooking.com:

Janice and your chef will arrive with all the ingredients for your class.  Each student will receive a copy of the recipes.

For personal chefs, dinner will be prepared in your kitchen using our ingredients.  Recipes are not provided.

What you provide:

A kitchen with ample work space.  Islands work well.  If your kitchen is not suitable, we have access to a commercial kitchen near the Texas Medical Center that you can rent for $250 plus a $50 cleanup fee.  Other centrally located kitchens are available for higher fees. 

Janice will go over the needed pots, pans, gadgets and utensils with you.  If you are lacking certain things, we can bring them. 

You must provide plates, glasses, utensils and the like for serving the creations.  You provide your own drinks. 

During classes, the dishes are sampled as they are finished. 

Janice will keep the work space clear during the class, but it is the customers' responsibility to clean up after the event.  We'll be happy to work with anyone you hire to clean up.  Ask us if you need recommendations.
